So Many Times
(Words and music; Colin Reece)

From the Album 'Good and Plenty' by Colin Reece

A song written for my late mate John 'Smudger' Smith.  Sadly missed and irreplaceable.

I managed to lift some small mandolin, fiddle and  guitar parts from the digital masters of Smudger's album 'A Smidgeon of Smudger'
and insert them into the recording I made of this song for my album 'Good and Plenty'.
It kind of helps me to think that we still get to play together occasionally.

Born in the south London Town
A city boy born for the Country Sound
Never much time for the violin
But a fiddlin' tune set his heart a-spin
So many times, So many times
So many times his heart would spin.

Not the best singer but I'll tell you what
Six string, five string, four string whatever you got
Well I think this tune needs a mandolin
Pick it out son, set my heart a-spin
So many times, So many times
So many times he'd set my heart a-spin.

Well I can see him now with his big red Strat
And a Tele on his belly like a Nashville Cat
Fiddle tucked up to his double chin
On a level with the Devil, set my heart a-spin
So many times, So many times
So many times he'd set my heart a-spin.

So many times, So many times
So many times he'd set your heart a-spin.
